PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium/nitrogen hydride capable of storing a large quantity of hydrogen and discharging it at a lower temperature. SOLUTION: This lithium/nitrogen hydride comprises Li, M(one or more metals selected from alkaline earth metals), N, and H. By substituting a part of lithium (Li) in lithium/nitrogen hydride such as LiNH<SB>2</SB>by one or more metals (M) selected from alkaline earth metals, the hydride becomes thermally unstable and the diffusion velocity of hydrogen becomes larger, thus hydrogen becomes easy to be discharged and the discharge temperature becomes lower.
