PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly determine the possibility of contact avoidance by steering. SOLUTION: This contact avoidance braking system detects the moving routes of a vehicle front end portion and a vehicle rear end portion according to steering (steps S1 to S13), and determines the possibility of contact avoidance by steering by checking whether the moving routes of the detected vehicle front end portion and the rear end portion are brought into contact with a forward object or not (step S14).
