<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the safety of a worker who works on a movable member provided to the inner section of an original reading section of an image forming apparatus and to prevent destruction of the movable member. <P>SOLUTION: A glass pressing plate 16a and a glass supporting plate 16b hold a platen glass 11 between them, and a sensor 17 is arranged at a recessed section where the platen glass 11 and the glass supporting plate 16b are opposed. When the platen glass 11 is interposed between the glass pressing plate 16a and the glass supporting plate 16b, the sensor 17 outputs an ON signal to a control section 60.
