<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for deciding recording power capable of precisely deciding the power of a laser beam, when recording information on an optical disk. <P>SOLUTION: A value regarding recording quality is acquired, by using a value regarding a reflection factor acquired, based on reflection light from a specified region in the optical disk and a beta value (steps 505-521), and the recording power is decided, based on the value regarding the recording quality (steps 523, 525). The value regarding the recording quality includes the influence of the recording power affecting the value, regarding the reflection factor and the influence of the recording power affecting a beta value, thus achieving high sensitivity with respect to the recording power. Therefore, the value regarding recording quality corresponding to optimum recording power is obtained as an optimum value by an experiment, or the like, in advance, thus precisely acquiring the optimum recording power from the difference between the value regarding the recording quality and the optimum value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
