<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vessel for metal evaporation where the excessive feed of electric power thereto owing to the presence/absence of a short circuit is prevented since the crawling-up of molten metal can be reduced at the initial stage of energizing, thus, the increase in the temperature therein and the increase in an erosion rate caused thereby can be suppressed, and the further elongation of the service life can be attained. <P>SOLUTION: The metal evaporation vessel is composed of electrically conductive ceramics having a cavity. In the whole face or partial face of the upper face on the electrode fitting side thereof, a layer for preventing the crawling-up of molten metal caused by substance inferior to wettability with the molten metal is formed. In this case, preferably, the electrically conductive ceramics consists essentially of titanium diboride (TiB<SB>2</SB>) and boron nitride (BN) or consists essentially of titanium diboride (TiB<SB>2</SB>), boron nitride (BN) and aluminum nitride (AlN) and has a relative density of ≥90%, the molten metal is aluminum, and the substance inferior to wettability with the molten metal is graphite. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
