<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-handle and lightweight roll for a scratch tower as a play instrument for cat more inexpensively with higher mechanical strength. <P>SOLUTION: The roll is such that a screw for binding the roll is not metallic but plastic and of trapezoidal shape with its diameter made larger.
