PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ammonia sensor having high sensitivity and high selectivity and excellent in heat resistance and durability. SOLUTION: This ammonia sensor (1) is constituted by arranging lead parts (7) and (9) on an insulating substrate (5), connecting a pair of comb-tooth electrodes (11) and (13) to the lead parts (7) and (9), arranging a sensitive layer (15) on the comb-tooth electrodes (11) and (13) and arranging a protective layer (17) on the sensitive layer (15). In particular, the sensitive layer (15) is constituted of a gas-sensitive material based on ZrO<SB>2</SB>to which at least W is added within a range of 2-40 wt.% in terms of WO<SB>3</SB>in a raw material composition.
