PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To largely increase the durability of a belt by sufficiently distributing deformation at and near the side edge of the belt even when the tread of a slick type tire is largely collapsed and deformed by a heavy load. SOLUTION: This radial tire having the tread surface formed as a groove-less slick surface 5a comprises five steel cord belt layers 4a to 4e. The belt 4 in which steel cords 8 are crossed each other between the belt layers is disposed in the tire. The width w of the maximum width belt layer 4b is brought into the range of 0.6 to 0.85 times the maximum width SW of the tire. A cushion rubber 6 is disposed on the inner peripheral side of the side portion of the maximum width belt layer, and the modulus of the cushion rubber 6 is 4.5 MPa or higher at an elongation of 100%. At least the steel cord ends of the maximum width belt layer are covered with an end cover rubber 7, and the modulus of the belt cover rubber 7 is brought into the range of 2.5 to 4.5 MPa at an elongation of 100%.
