PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle, conditioning the air according to an occupant's feeling for the temperature. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for a vehicle includes a non-contact temperature sensor 70c having two or more detecting elements for detecting the surface temperature in two or more areas in the clothed upper half body part of an occupant on the right at the rear seat in a non-contact state, and an air conditioning unit 6 for a rear seat, controlling the temperature of the air in the cabin at every seat. An air conditioner ECU control means 8 selects the detected temperature showing the lowest temperature out of the detected temperatures dir72 to dir 78 respectively detected by the detecting elements 72 to 78 as an occupant temperature (S210, S250), so that the surface temperature of the hands or the face can be avoided from being selected as the occupant temperature regardless of the position of the hands, and the clothed state temperature can be detected as the occupant temperature with good accuracy.
