A method of matching the colour of a first object with paint applied to a second object, or a portion of the first object, includes the steps of producing paint of a colour that is intended to appear the same as the colour of the first object, and applying the paint to the second object, or a portion of the first object. Portions of the object or objects are then exposed to light from a light emitting apparatus that emits light including frequencies at intensities that are substantially similar to those normally included in natural sunlight. The method is particularly suited for use in reducing the effect of metamerism when attempting to match colours of parts of an automotive vehicle during the course of repairs to the vehicle. An apparatus suitable for use with the method is also provided. |
