The baseplate (1) for the model railway may be square or some other convenient shape. It has a rectangular cutout (1a) to accommodate miniature figures (2) mounted on three sides of a triangular rotor, or on the outside surface of a conveyer belt passing round rollers at the ends of the cutout. The axis of the rotor is parallel to the long sides of the cutout. There is a lifting flap (4) along at least one long side of the cutout to allow clearance for the figures when the rotor is turned to a different setting, to make the figures visible or invisible to an observer (B).
