The present invention generally relates to the therapeutic and prophylactic methods and compositions for improving vascular health. In one embodiment, the methods of the invention include administering a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of at least one silyl phenol compound according to the present invention to a subject in need of treatment, wherein the amount is therapeutically or prophylactically effective in the treatment or prevention of major adverse cardiac events, vascular access dysfunction, or male erectile dysfunction.
