The structure has an underground gravel-filled drain trench (20) for e.g. rainwater, and a shaft (16) connected to the trench. Trench wall (20a) and shaft wall (16a) are in contact with each other along a line (20a2). The shaft is positioned relative to the trench in such a way, that a normal projection of the contact line into a plane (E) orthogonal to gravity action direction (g), is located within a normal projection (28) of the trench in this plane. The shaft extends mainly in that direction, and passes through the trench to form a pump sump. The shaft contains functional elements, e.g. flow guide, and/or pump and/or filter and/or throttle.
