The automobile seat (4) has a system to register the characteristics of the seated passenger (6), to set the performance dynamics of the airbag (8) or safety belt tensioner accordingly in the event of strong vehicle (5) deceleration forces. The weight of the passenger and the height of the center of gravity (7) are taken into account, together with its height:width ratio. The weight is registered by pressure sensors (10) in the seat, in a matrix array where the dimensions of the passenger can be established. The sensor signals (D) to the control circuit (11) determine whether the airbag/safety belt control (9) is to be activated or not, together with acceleration signals from vehicle sensors to a computer circuit (13). |
