<p>A topically applied composition (A), in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion of oil droplets of average size 50-1000 nm in an aqueous phase, contains 0.05-3 wt. % of at least one chlorhexidine salt (I) and at least one nonionic emulsifier (II) of HLB value 9-18, selected from selected from polyethylene glycol mono-higher hydrocarbyl ethers and/or addition products of 4-20 moles ethylene oxide with glycerol partial esters. A topically applied composition (A), in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion of oil droplets of average size 50-1000 nm in an aqueous phase, contains 0.05-3 wt. % of at least one chlorhexidine salt (I) and at least one nonionic emulsifier (II) of HLB value 9-18, selected from selected from polyethylene glycol monoethers of formula R-(OCH2CH2)n-OH (II') and/or addition products of 4-20 moles ethylene oxide with glycerol partial esters. R : 8-30C linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbyl; n : 8-50 (preferably 8-30). An independent claim is included for the use of (I) at 0.05-3 wt. % for stabilizing oil-in-water emulsions having an average oil droplet size of 50-1000 nm.</p> |
