The articulated model of a human being has mechanical arms and legs represented by rigid links [4-7] that are joined by motorised joints [8,9]. One form of joint is formed by a pair of pulley wheels joined by a belt with an electric motor driving one of the wheels. A second form uses a rotary actuator coupled to the other body element by a linkage.
