<p>Process for simulating background noise during a speech connection from a first device to a second device comprises connecting the second device to an internet protocol network and transferring speech in data packets, and analyzing the background noise transferred during the speech connection at the second device. A speech pause is signaled by a silence insertion descriptor packet. During this speech pause, the previously analyzed background noise is blended into the speech connection until another data packet with speech is sent from the first device.
