<p>A seal retainer 10 for a subsea hydraulic coupling includes a metal lip seal 64 which contacts the probe of the male coupling member when the probe is inserted. The lip seal 64, which may be integral with the seal retainer 10, may be constructed so that it is displaced slightly when the male coupling member is inserted. The seal 64 is energised by pressure in the cavity 66 behind the lip to improve the sealing function. There may also be a metal concave seal 68 which seals between the seal retainer 10 and a shoulder of the female coupling member (78, figure 2).</p> |
