<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve processing efficiency in compressing or expanding an image. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus multiplies a quantization table D20 previously stored in a memory 22a in a register by a quantization scale D21, and converts a quantization step size table D41 as a result of this multiplication into a corresponding dequantization step size table D42 on the basis of a dequantization step size table previously retained in a reciprocal transformation part 33. Then, DCT coefficient data D23 to be supplied from a compression system path or a quantization coefficient data D24 to be supplied from an expansion system path are input into a quantization circuit 24, the table D41 or the table D42 is selected corresponding to this input, and the tables D41 and D42 are multiplied by the corresponding data D23 and D24, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
