<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device capable of reducing a load applied to a socket of its igniter installed to a lamp body. <P>SOLUTION: The igniter 3 of this discharge lamp lighting device is composed of the socket 31 in a ring shape engaged with the lamp body 1 in a state that an HID lamp 2 is inserted and a body case 32 installed behind the socket 31 and serving as a circuit accommodation part supported by the lamp body 1 centering on the socket 31 as a fulcrum.
