PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately position an inputting optical fiber array which is a bundle of a plurality of inputting optical fibers, in an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer having a plurality of inputting optical fibers. SOLUTION: An outputting optical fiber array 10b is temporarily positioned relatively to a grating 21, continuous spectral light is emitted from one outputting optical fiber 11ba of this outputting optical fiber array 10b, and the grating 21 is irradiated, so that an imaging dot sequence 14b is formed by each light beam demultiplexed to light for each plurality of wavelengths in the grating 21. Then, in at least two inputting optical fibers 11ac, 11ad of the inputting optical fiber array 10a, the light for forming the imaging dot sequence 14b is received, the inputting optical fiber array 10a is positioned so that the quantity of light received at each inputting optical fiber 11ac, 11ad is maximized.
