PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element and an organic EL display capable of attaining all of heat resistance, life and emission efficiency at a high level. SOLUTION: This organic EL element 9 comprises an organic layer 3 provided between two electrodes 2 and 4 arranged oppositely to each other. The organic layer 3 contains a comb-type polymer having a main chain, a plurality of side chains connected to the main chain, and a 10C or more aromatic group derived from a luminous compound and connected to or included in at least either the main chain or the side chains.
