PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a apparatus and a method for reproducing information which are not dependent on navigation data reading constraints. SOLUTION: In the apparatus for reproducing information, two kinds of data are reproduced by a disk driving part 3 from a disk 2 in which stream data such as coded video information and navigation data for controlling the reproduction of the stream data are recorded, and a navigation pack detection part 4 performs control corresponding to the kind of data reproduced from the disk driving part 3 so as to store the stream data in a stream buffer part 5 and the navigation data in a navigation pack buffer part 6. Thus, a block for executing reproduction control performs reproduction control by using the navigation pack, and the problem of navigation data reading constraints is solved.
