PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system whose distortion is made hardly conspicuous in practical use even when the optical system is constituted of a small number of lenses. SOLUTION: The coupling optical system is constituted to satisfy following conditional expressions (1) to (3) concerning the optical distortion at a viewing angle larger than a middle viewing angle. The conditional expression (1) is 2.0%<¾DIST6¾<5.0%, the conditional expression (2) is ¾DIST8-DIST6¾<0.5% and the conditional expression (3) is ¾DIST10-DIST8¾<1.8% (provided that DIST6 shows the optical distortion at 60% image height, DIST8 shows the optical distortion at 80% image height, and DIST10 shows the optical distortion at 100% image height).
