PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystalline solid IM-12 and a method of preparing it. SOLUTION: The new crystalline solid called IM-12 having a new crystalline structure has a chemical composition represented by the following general formula:XO<SB>2</SB>:mYO<SB>2</SB>:pZ<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>:qR<SB>2/n</SB>O (I) (wherein R is one or some of n-valent cations; X is one or some of tetravalent elements except germanium; Y is germanium; Z is at least one trivalent element; and m, p, and q are molar numbers of YO<SB>2</SB>, Z<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and R<SB>2/n</SB>O, respectively, where m is 0-1, p is 0-0.5, and q is 0-0.7) in terms of moles of oxides as an anhydrous base.
