PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a meal utensil having a high added value which keeps a warm touch characteristic of a wooden product when grasped and reduces the bruise and abrasion of a part in contact with food by using and a method for producing the utensil. SOLUTION: An inclined plate W1 for a chopstick material having an inclined surface 100 at a required angle by diagonally compacting a wooden plate in relation to a plate surface. Next, an inclined plate W for the chopstick material is cut diagonally to be a width size of one chopstick to obtain the chopstick material W2. Both sides in the width direction of the chopstick material W2 are cut in the inside diagonal direction so that the width of the chopstick material W2 is reduced toward the tip part side to obtain aimed chopsticks.
