PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a top cover for a machine tool for preventing the scatter of chips and cutting oil without troubling an operator in putting in and out a workpiece. SOLUTION: A lateral pair of linear guides 2 are fixedly arranged parallel in a longitudinal direction, and a cover body 1 guided by the linear guides 2 and expensively moved in the longitudinal direction is provided between the pair of linear guides 2. A cylinder 3 for expanding/contracting the cover body 1 is provided at the tip of the cover body 1. The cover body 1 is formed of: a plurality of guide bars 13 extended between the pair of linear guides 2; a hinge frame 12 provided with a hinge part for connecting the adjacent guide bars 13; and a plate body 7 for closing a clearance between the guide bars 13. The cover body 1 is expanded/contracted in a bellows shape, and the rear end of the cover body 1 is mounted in a vertically movable manner to a spindle head 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
