<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control brightness and contrast, by shielding the quantity of leakage light of a polarization conversion element and restricting the illumination light flux. <P>SOLUTION: A reflective image projector comprises a reflection type liquid crystal display element, a polarization beam splitter, an integrator for forming uniform illumination intensity, the polarization conversion element for converting non-polarization light into polarization complete in the polarization direction, a quarter-phase plate, a projection lens, first and second plate-like reed screen light-shielding plates, alternately forming a light transmission part equal to the light incident face width of the polarization conversion element and a light-shielding part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
