<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a menu screen of a portable radio communication device so that integration and visibility are not spoiled when an optional background image is used. <P>SOLUTION: As shown in an illustration of a menu screen with a background image (a), an image optionally selected from an image memory is set as a background of a menu screen and nine icons including an icon 61 consisting of characters and a contour and a cursor 62 are overlapped and displayed.
