PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give no choppy feel due to lock-up at a low speed to a vehicle mounted with an automatic transmission. SOLUTION: This vehicle control device comprises an engine, the automatic transmission with a torque converter having a lock-up mechanism, and a fuel cut control means for cutting fuel supply to the engine in the state of performing lock-up control during decelerating the vehicle. It is satisfied with such conditions that, in the state of performing lock-up control during deceleration, fuel cut control is performed at least until an engine speed is lower than a first set speed and then fuel cut control is canceled in an accelerated condition but the fuel cut control is performed again only when the engine speed is a second set speed or higher.
