PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a skin cosmetic that has a light feel in use, quick compatibility with the skin, no greasiness after use, excellent durability of moisture retention effect, excellent amelioration effect on skin roughness and control effect on wrinkles, excellent effect of application of firmness on the skin and stability with time. SOLUTION: This skin cosmetic comprises (a) 0.01-50 wt.% of an adduct of butylene oxide to a fatty acid obtained by reacting a 10-20C fatty acid with butylene oxide in the molar ratio of butylene oxide to the fatty acid of 0.8-1.4 and (b) 0.1-30 wt.% of a 2-6C dihydric alcohol in the content ratio (a/b) of the component (a) to the component (b) of 1/100-10/1 by weight ratio.
