PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the lowering of a power factor without complicating a circuit constitution of a power supply device, and to reduce the device in size and weight. SOLUTION: The power supply device that obtains a DC output by transforming an AC output comprises a transformer in which the AC output is connected to one end and the center tap of a primary winding, and to the other end and the center tap of the primary winding. The power supply device also comprises: a rectifying circuit that rectifies a current passing the one end and the center tap of the primary winding of the transformer, and a current passing the other end and the center tap of the primary winding of the transformer; and a switching means that alternately switches the current passing the one end and the center tap of the primary winding of the transformer, and the current passing the other end and the center tap of the primary winding of the transformer, at a high frequency higher than a frequency of an alternate current fed from the AC output.
