PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user with information contents such as promotional advertisements provided by various information providers and frequently updated while maintaining the latest contents and to enable the user looking at and listening to the information contents to work and use the audiovisual information. SOLUTION: A public telephone system 1 has a storing means 9 for recording information contents provided by information providers, an image display means 8 for allowing the user to view and listen to the information contents in response to user's selection and a public telephone means 7 for enabling the user to communicate with an external telephone while allowing the user to view and listen to the information contents by the image display means. The public telephone system 1 of the user viewing and listening to the information contents is provided with a public telephone set 7 for allowing the user to have speech communication at no charge to thereby enable the user to have direct communication with an information contents provider or the like 6, to work the information contents into information specific to the user to use the information for the user.
