PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method of the intraoral number of mutans streptococci capable of measuring accurately and simply the number of mutans streptococci in a specimen, concerning a conventional method wherein bacteria in the specimen such as saliva or plaque are multiplied to form colonies, and the number of the bacteria is determined from the number of the colonies. SOLUTION: In this measuring method of the intraoral number of mutans streptococci, the specimen collected from inside a mouth cavity of a subject is applied on agar media, and the bacteria in the specimen are multiplied under necessary conditions in each agar medium to form a colony group, and the bacteria forming the colonies are identified to be the mutans streptococci by utilizing an antigen-antibody reaction to the plurality of colonies selected optionally from the colony group, and the number of mutans streptococci in the specimen is determined from the number of colonies on the agar media, the number of the plurality of colonies selected optionally, and the number of colonies identified to be the mutans streptococci.
