PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for molding a glass article for a cathode-ray tube which can prevent a bad influence to press molding caused from being affected by the solidification or deposition of a release oil on the outer side face of a plunger. SOLUTION: A gob supplied in a bottom 12 is pressed by the plunger 21 and molded into a glass funnel 1 and the like in the apparatus for molding the glass article for the cathode-ray tube. A cutout 21c to catch the release oil P is provided on the outer side face 21a near the upper end of the plunger 21 and at an upper position than a seal edge forming part 21d for the glass article.
