PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for connecting a weather strip capable of eliminating a defect in an appearance caused by poor adhesion or shift in adhesion, which defect is experienced in the case of a very thin membrane-like film of the prior arts, by putting a foamed resin sheet in a gap between connecting edges of the weather strip. SOLUTION: The method for connecting the left and right weather strips 1 with an approximately same cross section, comprises the steps of preheating both connecting edges 1a and 1b of the weather strip at a given temperature for a given time, putting the foamed resin sheet 2 in the gap between the connecting edges 1a and 1b, pressing the sheet 2 for a given time and further air- or water-cooling it for a given time. The foamed resin sheet 2 is made of an olefinic or styrenic thermoplastic elastomer (TPO, TPS), has an expansion ratio of the foamed sheet of 1.5-5.0 preferably 1.5-2.5 and a thickness of the sheet of 0.5-2.5 mm preferably 0.5-1.2 mm.
