COLUMN ASSIST TYPE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a column assist type electric power steering device, installing a steering column on the car body without excessive force applied to a column component by restraining the rotating force around the axis of a steering column in installing the steering column on the car body. SOLUTION: The steering column 1 includes: a tube 2 connected to a housing 4; and an inner tube 3 fitted in the tube 2. A steering upper shaft 5 is provided in the inner tube 3, and on the other hand, an output shaft 6 connected to a reduction gear is provided in the housing 4. The device is provided with an electric motor 7 for applying steering assist force to the output shaft 6 through the reduction gear. The electric motor 7 is disposed upright to the steering column 1.
