PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool changer storing a long-sized tool, a large-sized tool, a heavy tool, and a tool with no tool grip groove that cannot be stored in a normal tool magazine. SOLUTION: This tool changer is provided with a tool positioning means for positioning and holding the tool in a state of laying the tool on a tool support plate 37 extending within an approximately horizontal plane. To continuously hold the tool in the state, the tool support plate 37 moves between a retreat position of a spindle to the outside of a movable region and a tool transfer position in the movable region of the spindle while maintaining the state of the approximately horizontal plane.
