The drive is taken from a sprocket or belt drive pulley (13) to a bevel drive gear (3) that meshes with two diametrically opposite bevel gears (4a, 4b) mounted in fixed bearings (6). The intermediate gears (4a, 4b) also mesh with teeth on the twisting disk and so provide the drive. The twisting disk can have bevel teeth on both sides so that further intermediate gears and twisting disks can be added in cascade. The support bearings for the twisting disk (10) are spaced on a limited arc to suit the intermediate gears and the angle of movement. A drive (13') for a de-twisting device can be taken from one of the intermediate gears (4b). To alter the spacing between cascaded twisting disks, different diameter intermediate gears can be used.
|
