<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulation recording condition setting method which maintains reproduction signal quality by forming good recording marks. <P>SOLUTION: The optical disk recording information by optical modulation is subjected setting of recording conditions of information to the optical disk according to the reproduction signal obtained by reproducing the information written in trial to the optical disk by laser irradiation of multipulses by; setting recording pulse conditions (step S 1); then changing and setting recording power Pw and erasing power Pe (a step S 2); deciding whether the recording power Pw is above the standard recording power Pw0 under the standard recording conditions or not (a step S 3); and changing and setting the recording pulse conditions when the recording power Pw is greater (a step S 4). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
