摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gradation adjustment system, gradation adjusting method and gradation adjustment system control program for realizing suitable gradation even when maximum density that can be formed by an image forming device decreases. <P>SOLUTION: When a user instructs gradation adjustment from a client computer 36, a print server 32 sends reference image data to a printer 30 to make the printer 30 print a patch chart including a prescribed gradation pattern. A scanner 34 reads the printed patch chart, and the print server 32 grasps the gradation characteristic of the printer 30 in the present state from image data obtained by reading the patch chart. When the upper limit density PDmax of the gradation characteristic is smaller than the maximum density TDmax of a reference gradation characteristic, the print server 32 calculates TD'(x) = TD(x) &times; PDmax/TDmax on the basis of reference gradation characteristic TD(x) (x is an image data value to be inputted) currently set in the printer and sets the TD'(x) as a new reference gradation characteristic in the printer 30. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
