PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an optical amplification control stable even when aging conditions and environmental conditions of a laser diode are changed but an exciting current value for generating the maximum optical output of an exciting light source is increased in the optical amplification controller, for controlling an exciting current of an optical amplifier having a plurality of optical amplifiers having the exciting light source for exciting an optical fiber for amplifying. SOLUTION: The optical amplification controller controls a gain by increasing or decreasing the exciting current of the first exciting light source in a range arriving at a predetermined maximum value in response to an amplifying gain monitor result of the optical amplifier, controls the gain by switching to increase or decrease the exciting current of a second exciting light source to the amplifying gain exceeding the amplifying gain corresponding to the predetermined maximum value, changes the predetermined maximum value in response to characteristic change when the characteristic change occurs in the first exciting light source, and controls to change the threshold value of the control switching to the second exciting light source.
