PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection screen on which a video is vividly displayed even under bright ambient light and which is improved in luminance distribution and the angle of visibility, and also to provide a projection system equipped with the projection screen. SOLUTION: The projection screen 10-1 is equipped with a polarized light selective reflection layer 11-1 having cholesteric liquid crystal structure to selectively reflect the light of a prescribed polarized light component, and the polarized light selective reflection layer 11-1 has at least two or more partial selective reflection layers 11A and 11B whose selective reflection wavelength regions are nearly the same, whose diffusing angles are different and which are laminated each other. In the partial selective reflection layers 11A and 11B, the direction of the spiral axis L of a spiral structure area 30 included in the cholesteric liquid crystal structure is precisely adjusted by a leveling agent or the like, so that right circularly polarized light 31R made incident on the polarized light selective reflection layer 11-1 is diffused and reflected as reflected light 33A and 33B, and then a reflection area 33AB whose reflection intensity is high and whose luminance distribution is uniform is formed.
