RECEPTACLE TYPE SPLIT OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receptacle type split optical connector having structure that can easily be applied to (cope with) even a different-external-diameter ferrule which is terminated to an optical fiber of a plug type optical connector as a connection opposite side. SOLUTION: This optical connector is assembled by interposing a selected shell 2 or 3 between a front shell selected among shells 4 to 6 and a base shell 1 for a common component. The shells 2 and 3 have cylindrical projection parts 2a and 3a corresponding to ferrules differing in external diameter. A shell selected out of the shells (4, 5) for an SC type connector plug and an FC type connector plug for the cylindrical projection part 2a conforming to the shape of a plug periphery and the shell (6) for an SC type connector plug for the cylindrical projection part 3a is fitted and fixed with the shell 1 across the shells 2 and 3 while the cylindrical projection part 2a or 3a of the selected shell 2 or 3 is inserted and stored in an opening.
