PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device capable of effectively preventing increase in transmission loss, damaging, breaking, and so on of an optical fiber owing to stress concentration occurring where the clad part of the optical fiber is removed. SOLUTION: The substrate has in one body an array surface provided with a plurality of recessed grooves 24 and two support surfaces disposed across it and the respective recessed grooves 24 of the array surface is gradually increased in width (w) at the same depth from the highest position of the array surface at both end positions on sides of the two support surfaces as both the end part positions approach the corresponding support surfaces.
