The containers have standardized corner connector brackets (84,100). Each bracket has a slit (88,96), arranged so that the slits are adjacent to each other when one container is stacked on top of another. The clamping connector (82) has a hammer head (6) projecting into the interior of the upper bracket and a profiled head (8) projects into the cavity (98) in the lower bracket. The head is shaped so that it can slide out of the cavity when the connector is tilted. A locking bolt is worked by an arm with a projection which can fit into the chamfered edges of the slits.
