To provide an apparatus for carbonizing food waste, the apparatus capable of recycling the food waste as one resource by basically reducing volume of food waste and composting food waste disused at the same time. An apparatus for carbonizing food waste comprises: a crusher(10) on the inner surface of a casing(11) of which crushing projections(11a) are formed, in which a conical crusher(12) is embedded such that a crushing blade is formed on the conical crusher, and in which a lifting screw is connected to an end of the conical crusher to crush food waste, wherein a lifting blade of which spiral direction is opposite to a spiral direction of the crushing blade is formed on the lifting screw; a compressor(20) comprising a compression screw mounted on an inner part of a compressor casing, and a drain mesh plate which is mounted on a lower part of the compression screw, and on which drain holes are perforated to compress food waste while separating water from the food waste; and a carbonizer(30) comprising a transfer screw mounted on an inner part of a carbonizer casing, and a heating pipe which is mounted on the outer circumferential surface of the carbonizer casing, and in which an electric heating wire is led, wherein the transfer screw transfers food waste, and food waste is heated and carbonized by the heating pipe such that the carbonized food waste is used as charcoal capable of being used as compost.
