<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for ensuring the positioning of a transfer roller relative to a photoreceptor drum and properly maintaining the pressure of the contact of the transfer roller on the photoreceptor drum, thereby preventing transfer failure. <P>SOLUTION: The structure of an image forming apparatus 1 is such that an external cover 7 is attached to a main body 1a so as to be opened or closed and a recording paper transport path 9 disposed around the photoreceptor drum 31 is exposed outside when the external cover 7 is opened. The photoreceptor drum 31 is supported on the main body 1a, and a transfer roller 32 is supported on the external cover 7 via a pressing means. The main body 1a has a guide member 36 which is located on the closing side in the direction in which the external cover 7 is opened or closed relative to the transfer roller 32, and which restricts the displacement of the transfer roller 32. The pressing direction of the pressing means is slightly tilted in the direction of the guide member 36 from the direction between the axes of the transfer roller 32 and the photoreceptor drum 31. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
