<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for determining a position and orientation, as an entire posture of an image receiving device. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes utilizing a measurement device inherent in at least one robot to determine the posture of the image receiving device. The apparatus includes a robot having a built-in measurement device inherent in the robot. A multi-axis industrial robot 1 having a tool 4 in a hand area 2 located in a front end part of a robot arm 3 is used.
