<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To observe different pieces of information by utilizing the entire part of one display picture without requiring the operation to switch pictures and without forming multi-pictures. <P>SOLUTION: The display device includes: a liquid crystal panel (a display section) 110 which is a dot matrix type in a display form; an image data source in which the prescribed image data is stored; and a display control means which reads out the image data from the image data source and drives the liquid crystal panel 110. The display picture 111 of the liquid crystal panel 110 is virtually divided into a plurality of lines L 1 to Ln; different images, for example, a background image and a clock image are displayed in the odd lines and even lines, respectively; and a slit plate 120 is arranged at either on the observation surface side or counter observation surface side of the liquid crystal panel 110.
